The Liberal Democrats have released a comprehensive summary of the manifesto policies that they have delivered through the Coalition Government.
BBC research shows that 75% of the Liberal Democrat manifesto is being put into action by the Coalition, despite Liberal Democrats only have 57 MPs.
Key achievements include:
Raising the tax threshold to £10,000 by 2015, taking millions of low earners out of tax altogether
The Pupil Premium – £6.5m extra in this year alone for Northamptonshire’s schools for the most disadvantaged school children to tackle inequality. This is doubling this year and will rise to £2.5bn across the country by 2015.
Restoring the link between earnings and pensions and raising the basic pension through the “triple lock”
£3bn for the Green Investment Bank to boost growth and help the environment
Postponing the replacement of Trident
Scrapping Labour’s expensive, ineffective and illiberal ID cards
Action to tackle tax evasion and increase wealth taxes, such as Capital Gains Tax
The Liberal Democrats are also taking real action to tackle the bankers, with a new bank tax raising £10bn up until 2015 and the reforms splitting up our banks so that the mess that happened under Labour will not happen again.
