Cllr Brendan Glynane has today called on the Conservative administration at County Hall to act after 12 of the County’s schools were judged to be inadequate or needing intervention in an OFSTED report. Seven schools require special measures, whilst two were given “notice to improve” and a further two require “significant improvement”.  Only 3 previously in special measures no longer require them, whilst a further 3 no longer require “significant improvement”.

Cllr Brendan Glynane said “Firstly I want to pay tribute to all the children, teachers and parents in Northamptonshire’s schools, particularly those 15 judged “outstanding”, and those that have improved from their last inspection. Teachers play a crucial role in our society, and they should be commended for it. Interestingly both Camrose and Pen Green, which were threatened with large budget cuts from the Schools Forum, were both judged outstanding.”

“But children in ten schools are being let down by the Conservative administration in Northamptonshire. This is unacceptable and requires some real political leadership. Giving our children a decent start in life is one of the most important things we must do. The Conservatives need to act – Northamptonshire’s children deserve better.”
