“Fire and Rescue cuts deeply worrying” – Cllr Meredith

Cllr Dennis Meredith, the Lib Dem Opposition Spokesman for Customers and Communities on Northamptonshire County Council has today slammed the Conservative administration’s plans to cut funding for preventative work done by the Fire and Rescue service.

Cllr Meredith said “These cuts to the Fire and Rescue service are deeply worrying. I am very concerned as all the evidence shows that this funding has led to a decrease in fires. It is wrong to take away money that funds checks on buildings, education in schools and advice to the vulnerable. Lives could be put at risk because of these cuts. The Conservative administration needs to listen and reverse these ill-thought out and dangerous proposals.”
