Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats have today slammed the Conservatives at County Hall after it was revealed that the County Council was the 4th worst Council in the country for losing people’s personal data.
Cllr Brendan Glynane, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Official Opposition at County Hall said “This is completely unacceptable. A lot of data that is handled by the County Council is very personal and if lost or stolen could put people at risk. The fact that Northamptonshire is the fourth worst in the entire country is bad enough, but when you look at the fact that authorities ahead of Northamptonshire are much bigger, it’s even worse.”
“The Conservatives have failed to treat people’s personal information with the respect and care that is required. As a result people may lose confidence in the Council to look after personal and confidential data – and that could have a real impact in terms of vulnerable people. The Conservatives need to act quickly and sort this mess out before lasting damage is done.”
