Figures released today show that yet again over 1000 children in Northamptonshire have not been able to get into their first choice secondary school. Of that a shocking 149 children have not been able to get into any secondary schools of their choice at all.
The Liberal Democrat Shadow Children and Young People’s Spokesperson, Cllr Jenny Conroy said “This is really hard on parents and children in Northamptonshire. They have been let down by the Conservative administration at County Hall. It is really not good enough to have 149 children not given any of the schools they wanted.”
“It was the same picture last year, with over 1000 children unable to get into their first choice school, and 179 not able to get into any school of their choice. It’s just not good enough.”
“The Conservatives have failed to plan enough school places properly or build flexibility into the system across the County. We know there is going to be growth in Northamptonshire – if we can’t even get school places right now then how on earth are the Conservatives going to manage the system in a few years time?”
