The Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet Member for Transport, Cllr Jane Hollis, is demanding answers after a senior Conservative Councillor in Oxfordshire attacked Conservative-run Northamptonshire County Council over roadworks on the A361.
Conservative Councillor George Reynolds wrote a letter to the Banbury Guardian in which he stated that he was “appalled at the cavalier fashion in which residents affected are being treated by NCC… Attempts by local parish councils to get reasons for the delay have been met with a wall of uninformative press releases and half-truths”
Cllr Jane Hollis commented “If even their colleagues are angry with them, the Conservatives in Northamptonshire need to get a grip. Clearly residents are very unhappy with the mess over the A361 and it needs sorting quickly.”
Scot Collins, Parliamentary Spokesman for South Northants said “This debacle has gone from farce to ridiculous and continues to blight the surrounding communities forcing commuters’ and local alike onto already poorly maintained rural roads. This needs to be resolved with the utmost urgency and there needs to be a full, open and frank investigation into my this situation has occurred and is lasting so long”.
