Liberal Democrat Cllr Sally Beardsworth has criticised the Conservative administration at County Hall over their “Dragon’s Den” proposal to allocate community grants.
Cllr Beardsworth said “This “Dragon’s Den” idea is nothing more than a gimmick from the Conservatives at County Hall. They have slashed millions away from the voluntary sector over the last year, hitting the most vulnerable hardest. Many people in desperate need have had their support taken away as a result of the Conservative cuts.”
“Whilst I welcome £100,000 being given out to those who need it, the Dragon’s Den proposal is a drop in the ocean. Not only that but it will clearly favour the articulate and disadvantage those who the Council should be trying to reach. Those who need the help the most will be left behind yet again by Northamptonshire Conservatives.”
